SALES AND DISTRIBUTION

Our production facility is located at Merebank, Durban – Africa’s largest and busiest port, which has direct road, rail and sea links with the rest of Africa.
 
We are the leading suppliers of newsprint and telephone directory paper in South Africa and have sales offices in Cape town, Johannesburg and Durban. Approximately 7% of our products are exported to African countries. We have various agents which sell our products in the export market.

PRODUCTION

Mondi Shanduka Newsprint has two paper machines, PM4 and PM5, located at our production facility in Merebank, Durban, which produce 220 000 tons of Mondi Enviroprint, Mondi Envirotext, Mondi Headline News and Mondi Enviroline. We have ISO 9001 certification for our quality management system, as audited by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
 
Each of our paper machines is equipped with computerised process control, automatic reel wrapping and computerised weighing. Modern control and testing laboratories are manned around the clock and are complemented by a central product development and special projects laboratory. We are constantly upgrading and updating with new measurement, quality control and flow systems.
 
The installation of a state-of-the-art SAP information system has made information instantly available, improving management control and customer service. We are committed to enhancing our services using SAP and 3-commerce for EDI opportunities. In addition, we are continually improving our order tracking capabilities via our integrated GPS and logistics systems and suppliers.
 
Mondi Shanduka Newsprint cares about the health and safety of its employees and the systems we operate are compliant with OHSAS 18001.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

The most important input we receive, to continually improve our processes, is feedback from our customers. Customer feedback allows us to fine tune our manufacturing and service systems to better serve customer needs in the future.
 
In the event that a customer’s needs or expectations are not met, a Mondi Shanduka Newsprint representative will respond within one business day. When a problem does occur, we will work to resolve the problem as quickly and equitably as possible. As stated in our policies, Technical Services will assist in a prompt resolution of difficulties and/or claims that may be caused by paper or service which is less than satisfactory.
